If you were damaged in an incident, at the fault of another, then you may be entitled to receive compensation for your damages. Your compensation can include any or all of the following:
- MEDICAL EXPENSES. You may entitled to money for your medical bills, whether paid or unpaid for by health insurance. Medical expenses can include, ambulance transportation, emergency room care, X-rays, physical therapy, physician’s visits, laboratory tests, prescription medications, physical therapy aids like crutches, collars and slings and even over-the-counter expenditures such as for Tylenol, or analgesic balms.
- WAGE LOSSES. You may also be entitled to compensation for your time away from your usual and customary occupational pursuits. This includes either lost wages or lost profits, and well as the lost value of time in the event that you have already been compensated by your employer for your time off work. The Illinois Courts, in their wisdom, do not allow the responsible party to benefit from the fact that you may have had an employer who paid your time off work or for your medical expenses.
In addition to the above, you may be entitled to compensation for:
- PHYSICAL PAIN (The Hurt Your Injuries Cause You)
- MENTAL ANGUISH and SUFFERING (Emotional Worry and Anxiety From Your Injuries)
- DISFIGUREMENT (Bruising or Scarring)
- DISABILITY (Interference with Your Ordinary Activities of Daily Life).
Any or all of the above elements of damage can be either temporary or permanent in nature, depending on the extent of the injuries which you have received.
Of course, in addition to the above, you may be entitled to compensation for damage or loss to your property, including your motor vehicle or personal possessions.
